Professionals come to ISACA for many different reasons. It could be a certification, access to local networking, training in emerging technology – the list goes on, and those motivations change during the course of our members’ careers.

As we move forward in 2025 and beyond, we are focused on delivering for all of our members: no matter where they are in their careers or where they envision their professional journey taking them.

ISACA’s new mission and vision statements will help us do that. These statements are the result of a methodical, iterative process, so with no further delay, here they are:

Our new mission statement: Empower our members throughout their careers by providing comprehensive knowledge, skills, credentials, and access to a global community – ensuring they are well-prepared to meet today’s challenges and drive tomorrow’s innovations.

Our new vision statement: Champion a workforce committed to advancing trust in technology.

To be clear, this is not a vision or mission statement that I nor any other individual with ISACA can claim credit for – it was a true collaboration on the part of our global community after months of excellent feedback, workshopping and revising. The voices of ISACA members and chapter leaders around the world are reflected in these statements, as we incorporated many of the common threads that our community voiced.

Our new mission and vision is laser focused on our current and future members: you. You are at the heart of everything we do.

We intentionally landed on inclusive language with which our entire community could identify. We aren’t narrowing our focus; we are broadening it. Similarly, we want to magnify, not lower, expectations for what ISACA can deliver together with our global community.

These statements will sharpen our focus going forward, and it will be an ongoing undertaking for us to ensure our mission and vision remain reflective of our priorities.

As much thought as went into the words in these statements, it’s not the words that excite me as much as the actions they can inspire. These statements are only meaningful if we all champion them every day in the work that we do and the progress that we make. There are great examples of our members sharing what ISACA has meant to them at different points of their career in this video, which helps bring to life our mission to empower members throughout their journeys.

As we move deeper into 2025, this commitment will include heightened collaboration with academia to provide newcomers to our professional paths the knowledge and credentialing they need to successfully launch their careers. We know that demonstrating expertise can be a pain point for students and career-changers as they seek a foothold in IT professions, and we are excited about the headway we will make in welcoming aspiring learners into our professions.

Enhancing resources for early-career professionals also factored into the creation of our newly released Certified Cybersecurity Operations Analyst (CCOA) credential. CCOA will be a great resource for security professionals in the first few years of their careers, validating the critical technical skills needed to evaluate threats and identify vulnerabilities. It will be an ideal qualification for practitioners looking to pursue in-demand roles such as information security analyst, SOC analyst and incident response analyst.

We also are excited to introduce new ways for our certification-holders to layer additional, in-demand expertise to their ISACA credentials. For example, how can those holding ISACA credentials showcase the connection points between their existing expertise and the ways in which artificial intelligence is impacting our professions? Stay tuned for ISACA resources that will help our certification-holders future-proof their careers in this era of AI.

Our new mission statement references “access to a global community,” and the year ahead includes a dynamite slate of conferences that will provide opportunities to keep growing both your knowledge and your networks. It begins next month with the ISACA Virtual Conference, with programming tailored to three regions and time zones from 18-20 February. If you prefer an in-person conference experience and a break from your laptop, join us in May for ISACA Conference North America in Orlando, Florida, in August for the GRC Conference in New York or in October for ISACA Conference Europe in London.

I look forward to seeing many of you at these events and continuing the great dialogue that helped set our course forward with these new mission and vision statements. I know I can count on you to help spread the word about our mission and vision—and to use it as a north star as we focus on serving our members well at every stage of their careers.
